Community intelligence leads to arrest of male in the Lupset area for drugs offences |
||
Dear Resident, We have seen an increase in reports of drug dealing in the area around Thornhill Street over the summer and officers from Wakefield Central NPT have increased patrols in the area and liaised with the local community to gather an intelligence picture which led to one of the main suspects being identified by PC Garlick. On 2nd September, PCs Gale & Milner from Wakefield Central NPT were patrolling the Lupset, Darnley and Wrenthorpe areas of Wakefield, acting on community intelligence in relation to mobile drug dealing, when they saw the suspect riding an electric bike. This male made off from the officers along George-A-Green Road and in doing so he collided with a parked vehicle, injuring himself in the process. He was searched and found to be in possession of a large quantity of both Class A and Class B controlled drugs and he was duly arrested. After a short visit to hospital the male was taken to Havertop Police Station where he was interviewed by detectives for the Drugs Trafficking offences and Dangerous Driving. Inspector Fraser, Wakefield Central NPT said: “Community intelligence drives all of our proactivity and this positive police action should reassure the residents of Wakefield that we will target drug dealers regardless of their preferred mode of delivery”. You can report drug dealing to us by calling CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111, or you can report it to us via our online reporting form Report drug use / drug dealing | West Yorkshire Police | ||
